#FeedSomeFolkProject
For our October Love Movement Miami-Dade event, Jamila Wellness partnered with Crystal Pearson for her social media project to feed the hungry in select areas of South Miami-Dade County. It was fantastic! We assisted with the collection of donated items, assembly of care packages, and distribution to homeless and hungry.

Ronald McDonald House; Gratitude
Yesterday, I partnered with a good friend of mine on this great cause and helped to fill 47 lunch totes with a sandwich, a bag of chips, a snack, and something to drink for the child whose family is being assisted by the Ronald McDonald House in Miami, Florida. Today, we went to deliver those totes. It was wonderful to deliver 47 totes to 31 families, which means there were extra totes! It was a very inspirational experience and I'm grateful to have had the time to spare to help in any way that I could.
That's what I want to discuss: gratitude. The families that reside here have a child that is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. They stay temporarily so that they can be near the treatment, and, in some cases, have a place to sleep while the child is admitted. We were able to meet a few of the children receiving treatment while we were delivering the totes. We would have liked to put more into the totes, but each child or family representative wore a large smile and expressed their gratitude.
Be grateful for the small things. A phone call, a smile, a wave, whatever. I keep a "blessings jar" in my living room (I bought it from a dollar store and wrote "blessings" on it with permanent marker; nothing fancy). When something random happens to me (something outrageously awesome!), I write it down, fold it up, and place it in my jar. When I'm having trouble finding something in my life to be grateful for, I go back and read some of the blessings! Try it. I guarantee we have more to be grateful for than we realize.

June Love Movement
Andrea Jordan of South Miami, Florida kept hearing about the tragedies in her home town. Shootings, robberies, and [worst-of-all] the loss of souls for Christ. After praying about it, she decided that someone needed to do something ... anything ... and soon. So she contacted a number of friends, churches, and businesses to pull together
Jamila Wellness LLC contributed to this event by providing local high school students with community service hours for participating. They were fantastic!

To Honor our Elders: Love Movement May 2014
"It was once said that the moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped." Hubert H. Humphrey
On Saturday, May 17th, Jamila Wellness LLC coordinated a special appreciation for National Nursing Home Week. A very special "thank you" goes out to some special people at Coffee-Mate for providing employees with free iced coffee during their lunch breaks. The crew was so inspired by the work that the employees do for the seniors, that they handed out free bottles of various Coffee-Mate creamers.
Ms. Tina was remarkably instrumental in the success of the activities of this day! Thank you Tina!!

#LoveMovementMiamiDade April event
As you may recall, Jamila Wellness LLC partnered with Thirty-One Gifts to bring care bags to pediatric oncology patients (children receiving chemotherapy) through a project called Believe Bags. It was a success! Special thanks to Jameka Johnson and Betty Key for their strong and dedicated efforts! Bags were donated along with items to fill them. They were then packaged and delivered by Jennifer Nwadike. Here's what she had to say:
"They were all grateful but the little ones were especially funny. The way their faces would light up at seeing something for them and the squeals of joys at seeing what was inside moved me to tears. These kids were dealt a bad hand and still they find joy in the little things."
Donated items
Items in a boy's bag
Items in a girl's bag

Serving lunch to emergency service workers
Earlier today, I participated in the first Love Movement Miami-Dade (which you can find on social media by searching #LoveMovementMiamiDade). I purchased some pizzas and soda and went to a local fire rescue station. They seemed to be a bit taken aback by the sincere gesture. It was as though they were wondering what the "catch" was. On the way out, someone said to me that things like this don't judge happen for no reason. I totally agreed with! Things like this don't happen for NO reason; this happened because we, the Love Movement, love and appreciate our emergency workers!
